Continuously Variable Transmission

Technical principle:
the continuously variable transmission has no gear, but only conical ratchet wheel and steel belt, of which the structure is similar to the transmission mechanism of mountain bike (as illustrated). The driving and driven ratchet wheels are connected with the steel belt and the transmission ratio varies with the change of the distance between steel belt and the axle center of ratchet wheels;
 
Technical characteristics:
 
The transmission process is really smooth without gearshift impact problems of other transmissions; it has a small size, light weight and saved space.
The CVT can be only equipped with engines with lower power output due to the restriction of steel belt driving. Excessive power output will make the steel belt slip, thus damaging the steel belt, therefore, CVT is applicable only to vehicles with low/medium displacement.
