Chery is pursuing world-leading technologies, creating independent intellectual properties, forging a world-renowned brand and exploiting the global automobile market.
Technologies and achievements
In October 2005, the company's technological center was recognized as "The Enterprise Technological Center" by the Chinese government. The company has established the product database of vehicles, engines and gearboxes and has formed a complete development system from design to test of vehicles, power train and key parts.
Vehicles:
The company has independently developed ten series and dozens of models of vehicles, such as Cowin, Eastar, QQ3, Tiggo3, including the types of sedan, SUV and mini-van etc, and is the Chinese independent brand car manufacturer with the most models in China.
Power train:
Currently there are two engine brands, namely CAC and ACTECO, with four advantages, i.e., high performance, low fuel consumption, long service life and environmental friendliness. The company has designed and developed 6 series of 5-gear and 6-gear manual transmissions (MT), of which the torque ranges from 120Nm to 310Nm, and the development capability is in the leading position in the industry.
Key parts:
The number of the parts manufacturers in which Chery has shares and controlling shares is nearly 50. Among them, the central intelligent electronic integrated control unit, CAN BUS meters and EMS are considered as cutting-edge automobile electronic products and are most intensively researched both at home and abroad. The technologies of some products, such as, intelligent sunroof and comprehensive parking brake have filled in the blank at home, and some technologies have reached the international level.
National research projects:
By the year of 2006, Chery had obtained eight "863" projects, including the sedan integrated developing technology, the GDI development, the technical platform research and development of the hybrid passenger vehicle power system, the fuel cell car prototype development and production, CNG car development, complex magnesium alloy castings and an integrated application technology development.
Intellectual properties:
Since the year of 2002, the company has applied for 1396 patents, among which 197 are patents for invention and 492 have been approved.
Production Facilities
Passenger Vehicle Production Line
The car company comprises four workshops, namely, stamping, welding, painting and final assembly. The welding workshop is installed with a central control system optimized by equipments independently developed in China. The system is capable of welding parameters monitoring, welding production line alarm stop and electrode grinding as well as real-time monitoring and counting of welding spots. The tumbler test system in the final assembly workshop is imported from the US. The intelligent conversion system takes a leading position in China and the wheel alignment system is at the top in the global industry.
Germany DURR Corporation supplied and installed the facilities of the painting workshop. This painting production line is the world's 5th in terms of sequence and the most advanced painting production line after that of BMW and other automakers. The body pre-treatment and electrophoreses are equipped with a RODIP-3 system and the surface finish painting line, with a skid conveyor. The painting adopts the most advanced technology and machinery, such as the high-pressure static spray-painting machine and atomization. The underbody PVC painting workstation adopts the overhead counter skid conveyor and the paint-baking oven adopts the shape stoving structure.
Engine Production Line
The engine production line applies the most leading techniques of the world so that the quality of engines and the sustainable development of manufacture technologies can be ensured. At present, there are 9 production lines introduced from Germany, representing the world's top industrial level and approximately 200 units of computerized numeral control (CNC) that are capable of switching the production procedure within 18 minutes for flexible production of 18 engine models of various types and performances. The industrial network system controlled with massive computer information can guarantee 100% precision during the production process. The debugging team of this production line referred to as "masterwork production line" comprises 200 senior engineers from 8 countries in Europe, America and Asia.
