Again, Chery Engine Ranks among Top 10 Engines of the Year, Revealing Powerful Technical Strength

At the recent award-presenting ceremony for the 4th “Chinese Heart” 2009 Top 10 Chinese Engines, the 1.9TDDI engine equipped on Chery V5 was named the Top 10 Chinese Engines with its outstanding performance. This is another honor for Chery engine after 2.0L engine of Eastar and 1.5L Chery ACTECO engine received the same award in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

As the only engine event in China, “Chinese Heart” Top 10 Engines was initiated in 2006, and has now become the most authoritative award in the field of car engines, honored as the “Oscar Award” of the car engine industry in China. After the event received immense responses from the vast customers in the first 3 years, the competition in selection this year was much fiercer. 29 key engine models from 20 automakers and engine makers participated in the event. And, the 1.9TDDI engine of V5 stood out from the many nominees, not only because this engine integrates many cutting-edge engine technologies and manufacturing technologies, also, it features accurate emission control solutions and low fuel consumption. From its current application, the fuel consumption of V5 vehicle equipped with 1.9TDDI engine is more than 30% (comprehensive fuel consumption) lower than that of NA engine of the same displacement. At the same time, power performance is remarkably improved, and the emission reaches Chinese National IV. Hence, the application of this engine will undoubtedly make contributions to the new energy policy, energy saving and emission reduction of the country.

It is known that, the Chery’s independently researched and developed ACTECO engine series include more than 20 world first-class engines classified into 2 gasoline engine series and a diesel engine series. Currently, there are 10 types of engine in mass production, with total annual production capacity standing at nearly 600,000 units. These engines are not for Chery own use only, also, part of them are exported to international markets. At present, Chery is devoting itself to the research and development of the 2nd and 3rd generations of the ACTECO engine series, which will meet the emission standards of Euro IV, Euro V and the most rigorous California emission standard of America.

The honor of being named the Top 10 Engines of 1.9TDDI engine on Chery V5 is not only a confirmation of the engine’s performance, and also it is the confirmation of the core technological breakthroughs of Chinese independent brands. With the promulgation and implementation of the National Plan on Adjusting and Revitalizing the Auto Industry, the realization of the independence of core components, such as engines and transmissions, has become the priority of Chinese auto industry. No matter the 2.0L engine of Eastar and ACTECO 1.5L engine which won the award before, or the latest winner, 1.9TDDI engine, they are not only the accomplishments of Chery in independent R & D technologies, they are more the exemplification showing that Chinese independent brands represented by Chery have constantly achieved core technological progress and gradually mastered core competitiveness.
