Chery Tiggo Named Nominee for “Car of the Year” in Brazil

Recently, Chery Tiggo was named one of the nominees for “SUV of the Year” in the “Car of the Year” award sponsored by Auto Esporte, a well-known Brazilian car magazine. In the short period of only 4 months since entering the Brazilian market, Tiggo has won good public praise and keeps breaking its previous sales records. While opening the Brazilian market successfully with Tiggo, Chery also has full confidence in the 2010 South American market.

This award was sponsored by Auto Esporte, the best known auto magazine in Brazil. It holds the “Car of the Year” award every year at yearend, invites many auto experts and journalists to vote for car models, and presents the medal of honor. The participating media held the opinion that, though launched not long ago, Chery Tiggo had shown great potential and won vast development pace in Brazilian market with its imposing & dynamic design, outstanding control performance and competitive price. As a result, it was named the nominees for “SUV of the Year” along with the SUV models of world top carmakers. For Tiggo which was released in Brazil in the latter half of 2009, though it didn’t win the championship, it was still a great encouragement and honor for it to get the high appraisal from industrial insiders.

Chery Tiggo was launched in Brazil in July, 2009. It is the first car model of Chery to enter the market, signifying Chery had successfully exploited the market right after Uruguay. Later on, on Aug. 20, Chery started its operation officially in Brazil and planned to establish 55 distribution outlets in 14 states of the country. According to the latest statistics, the total registrations of Tiggo in Q4 of 2009 had surpassed expectations, reaching nearly 500 units. From Aug. to Dec., the market share of Tiggo kept increasing, and in Dec., the monthly sales performance of Tiggo in the SUV segment was close to top 10.

As the 9th biggest auto market in the world, the Brazilian market is of great significance for Chery to expand in South America and Latin America. Chery will continue to gain a larger market share with key models. Soon, more main models of Chery in domestic market including QQ and A3, and the A1 built in Uruguay will be introduced to Brazil. At the same time, Chery will double the number of its sales stores in the country to 50. With its increasing brand influence and expansion of sales network, Chery will live up to the expectations of customers in the global market.
