On September 4 2014, the launch ceremony of Chery's new-generation SUV Grand Tiggo (T21) took place at Parque Arauco, Santiago, capital of Chile. Present were Liu Rutao, commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Chile; James Hope, modeling director of Chery Automobile; Hugo Castero, general manager ofChery Chile, etc. As Chery's image ambassador in Chile, renowned actress Angela Prieto hosted the ceremony. A total of 150 persons including Chery's Chilean distributor and dealers, partners and journalists from Chile's mainstream media witnessed the launch of Grand Tiggo.
As Chery's all-new SUV model positioned above T11 and T11-FL in existence, Grand Tiggo has new appearance and interior, and carries a 2.0DVVT engine and a five-shift manual transmission. It has rich configuration such asdual airbags, 17in aluminum alloy hubs, ABS/EBM and reversing radar, and the best-configured version provides power seats, leather steering wheel, side airbag as well as active safety systems such as ESP, ASR, HHC and EBA. Rich configuration makes Grand Tiggo competitive among SUV models of the same grade.
Hugo Castero appeared first at the press conference. He introduced Chery's new logo, iAuto technical platform and new brand image represented by Chery's four laboratories. This was the first time for Chery to officially release its new brand image in South America.
Subsequently, Angela Prieto went up to the stage to unveil Grand Tiggo with Hugo. In the ensuing speech, James Hope interpreted Chery's new design concept and future development orientation, modeling proportion, brand features, design languages and sensory quality will be the core idea of Chery's future brand building.
Now Chery's new brand image is being updated in a progressive and orderly manner around the world. Driven by the new brand image, Chery's R & D capacity, product quality and service system have been improved rapidly, and its internationalization has been stepped up gradually. Meanwhile, a series of Chery's new models represented by Grand Tiggo have been launched successively worldwide, which is bound to draw consumers' new-round attention to Chery.
