On October 29, 2013, Chery held a new model launch event at Habtoor Grand Hotel, Dubai. Present were Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group; Sultan Al Habtoor, President of Al Habtoor Motors; Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Motors and Karl Hamer, Managing Director of Al Habtoor Motors; He Liang, Vice Consul of China in the UAE and Zhang Hua, Deputy GM of Chery Middle East & EU Region. Over 40 journalists from mainstream media outlets in the Middle East as well as correspondents of Chinese mainstream media outlets abroad were invited to witness the launch of Chery E5 and New Tiggo.
At the press conference, with confidence and patience Chery and its partner answered the questions brought by media about the cooperation between Chery and Al Habtoor motors, the products introduced to UAE and marketing strategy here.
In the launch session, Mr. Zhang said, "The UAE auto market has huge potential and it is after careful preparation by getting to know the market and customers in past five years that we determined the products to be introduced in UAE. E5 and New Tiggo have been launched in other overseas markets and gained wide praise from consumers. Before their launch, we made elaborate preparations including product research and road testing to ensure that they fully meet the requirements of the GCC market. We believe they will be recognized by UAE consumers."
