As World Children’s Day on November 20 draws near, the focus on child travel safety intensifies once again. In family driving situations, children’s physiological characteristics make them more susceptible to injury than adults, requiring higher standards of vehicle safety protection. Chery TIGGO4, an A0-segment SUV designed for global markets, demonstrates meticulous attention to child safety in its design, creating a “mobile safety fortress” that offers comprehensive protection for families.

The vehicle's exterior structure and design details form the first line of defense. To this end, TIGGO4 features an integrated cage-style body constructed with over 60% high-strength steel. Key protective areas utilize Benteler hot-formed steel with a yield strength exceeding 1,500 MPa. This robust framework, combined with an aluminum alloy front crash beam and full galvanized steel panels, creates a multi-dimensional force-dissipation system. In the event of a severe collision, this design effectively absorbs and redirects impact energy, preserving the integrity of the passenger cabin to ensure a survival space for all occupants, especially children.

Complementing its robust "steel skeleton," TIGGO4 offers restraint systems and protection features specifically designed with children in mind. It comes standard with seven airbags, including a less common far-side airbag between the front seats. In a side impact, this airbag helps cushion front occupants from striking each other, reducing the risk of secondary head injuries—a crucial protection for children. For secure child seat installation, the rear seats are equipped with standard ISOFIX anchors and top-tether points, which help prevent improper installation and the potential hazards it introduces.

TIGGO4 incorporates numerous family-friendly details designed with children's safety and comfort in mind. Its power windows are anti-pinch, automatically reversing if they detect an obstruction during operation. Rear child safety locks prevent doors from being opened from inside while the vehicle is in motion. An indirect child-presence reminder system alerts the driver if a child is left in the rear seats after the engine is turned off, helping to prevent tragic incidents. For a healthier cabin environment, a CN95-grade high-efficiency filter captures over 95% of PM0.3 particles and droplet aerosols. Dual-zone automatic climate control, coupled with dedicated rear air vents, allows parents to maintain a comfortable temperature and airflow for children in the back, enhancing comfort on long journeys.

The daily school run, with its complex urban environments and potential hazards, is a source of concern for many parents. TIGGO4 helps mitigate these risks with its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system. Designed to react in high-risk scenarios, the AEB can detect not only vehicles but also pedestrians and cyclists. This capability is crucial when a child might suddenly dart into the road, as the system provides a millisecond-level response to help avoid or mitigate a collision, creating a vital intelligent safety barrier.

From daily commutes to weekend trips, and from school runs to long family journeys, TIGGO4 is designed to prioritize child safety in every scenario. Built on a foundation of globally unified safety standards, its commitment is proven by results: in February of this year, TIGGO4 PRO for the Australian market achieved a rigorous ANCAP 5-star safety rating, with an exceptional score of 87% in Child Occupant Protection.

As we observe World Children’s Day, it is crucial to champion children's rights and well-being by implementing safety in every detail that touches their lives. We hope to see more vehicles like Chery TIGGO4, which combines robust safety engineering with human-centric design, to safeguard the next generation on roads everywhere.
