In June 2024, Chery will visit Türkiye to see how UNICEF education programmes are having a positive impact on children's lives.
In 2023, Chery and UNICEF announced a new two-year, $6 million partnership, in support of education programmes around the world.
Chery's collaboration with UNICEF aims to help provide quality education for some of the most vulnerable and marginalized children in China and around the world. It also aims to support countries to strengthen their education systems, to better serve children and communities.
In 2024, global inequality in education remains a significant challenge for humanity. According to statistics, nearly 250 million children and adolescents worldwide are unable to attend school, and two-thirds of school-age children lack internet access at home, exacerbating the digital divide. Marginalized children, especially girls, migrant children, children with disabilities, and children from impoverished backgrounds, face even greater difficulties in accessing education.
To help tackle these challenges, Chery entered a two-year global partnership with UNICEF in 2023. Through the partnership Chery will provide US $6 million to support UNICEF's Global Education programmes, including educational programmes in China, Mexico, South Africa, and Türkiye. The collaboration helps UNICEF tackle the learning crisis by supporting its global education programmes aimed at providing quality education to the most disadvantaged and marginalised children.

In China, the Education Thematic Fund has been used to develop and implement a series of educational interventions in key areas, strengthening national and provincial education systems and providing Chinese children with high-quality and inclusive educational environments. In Mexico, the partnership focuses on helping all children, especially the most vulnerable groups, gain more equitable and inclusive access to high-quality education opportunities, thereby promoting their comprehensive development, improving learning outcomes, and enhancing life skills. In South Africa, Chery's vital support is further enabling UNICEF's work to enhance and improve the national curriculum, to update and roll-out the school safety framework and in enabling active learning opportunities for children with disabilities. Additionally, in Türkiye, which has been severely impacted by earthquakes, UNICEF has provided safe educational environments to mitigate the losses caused by educational disruptions, addressing challenges such as the destruction of educational facilities and the education of refugee children.
In June 2024, Chery will visit Türkiye to witness UNICEF's programmes first-hand. This is not Chery's first public welfare footprint in Türkiye—back in 2023, in response to an unexpected earthquake disaster, Chery quickly mobilized to deliver emergency relief supplies, demonstrating the company's social responsibility and deep humanitarian concern by bringing warmth and hope to the area. The visit to UNICEF programmes will provide Chery employees with an opportunity to meet with children, educators, and UNICEF staff, to enhance mutual understanding and witness the positive impact that progammes are having on children's lives. Chery's actions this time not only reflect the continuous practice of corporate social responsibility but also mark its deep participation and long-term commitment to the global educational philanthropic cause.
Looking forward, the cooperation between Chery and UNICEF will continue to illuminate the path ahead, contributing to increased access to quality education around the world. Chery stands with UNICEF to build a better tomorrow.
